Elizabethtown Women Defeat Widener 101-97, Elizabethtown Men Fall to Widener 149-34, in Final Dual Meet of 2005-06

ELIZABETHTOWN , Pa. --- Elizabethtown College’s women’s swimming team won its final dual meet of the 2005-06 season 101-97 over Middle Atlantic Conference rival Widener University Tuesday night, while the Elizabethtown men’s swimming team fell 149-34 to Widener. The Etown women close out the dual meet season with a 3-11 mark overall and a 3-4 record against MAC opponents, while the Etown men end their dual meet season with a 1-11 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the MAC. The Widener women drop to 4-5 in dual meets, while the Widener men improve to 7-1.

Winning the opening event for the Blue Jays was the 200 yard medley relay team of Rachel Halton (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus), Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown), Keeley Trumbo (Chester Springs, PA/Great Valley) and Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) in 1:59.07.

Brizek also won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:21.42, while Trumbo won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:02.31, and Geiger won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:11.16, a new season best time.

Elizabethtown will return to action at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, to be held in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. from Friday, February 10 through Sunday, February 12.
