ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Division II Millersville Defeats Elizabethtown 129.5-75.5 in Blue Jays’ Season Opener ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown’s women’s swimming team fell to NCAA Division II Millersville University 129.5-75.5 at home Wednesday night in its 2005-06 season opener. It was also the first dual meet of the season for Millersville. The Etown men did not compete, as Millersville does not sponsor men’s swimming. In the first event of the night, Millersville’s 400 yard medley relay team of Sarah Johnson (Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg), Stephanie Fallstick (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown), Kara Chrisanthon (Springfield, PA/Springfield) and Kara Rapp (Myerstown, PA/Lititz Christian) won in 4:17.46. Millersville’s Megan Casey (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) took the next event, the 1000 freestyle, in 12:00.75, and Rapp followed with a win in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.65 for Millersville. The fourth event of the night, the 50 freestyle, saw Chrisanthon win in 25.62 seconds. Etown got its first win of the night courtesy of a first-year student, Jennifer Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser), who won the next event, the 200 individual medley, as she posted a time of 2:21.05. Millersville struck back with a win in the 100 butterfly by Chrisanthon in 1:04.65, and Etown followed with its second win of the night as Blue Jay sophomore Molly Campbell (Mountville, PA/Lancaster Catholic) won the 100 freestyle in 59.22 seconds. Millersville then won the night’s final four events, as Johnson won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.64, Rapp won the 500 freestyle in 5:37.50, Fallstick won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.53, and the 200 freestyle relay team of Carle Testa (Pittston, PA/Pittston), Katherine Heldt (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West), Nicole Goble (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) and Casey won in 1:49.91. Both Etown’s women’s and men’s teams will return to action on the road Saturday, November 5 at Dickinson College in a 1:00 p.m. meet. |
