ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Elizabethtown Women Get First Dual Meet Win of Season, 112-88, over MAC Rival Lebanon Valley; Etown Men Fall 116-80 to LVC ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown’s women’s swimming team earned its first dual meet win of the 2005-06 season at home Tuesday night, defeating Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lebanon Valley College 112-88. The Etown men, meanwhile, lost to LVC 116-80. The Etown women’s team record now stands at 1-6, while the Etown men drop to 0-6. Lebanon Valley’s women’s team drops to 3-4 with the loss, while the men’s team improves to 3-2. In the women’s races, first-year student Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) and junior Keeley Trumbo (Chester Springs, PA/Great Valley) each won three events for Elizabethtown. The two teamed up with Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) and Tara Ison (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) to win the 200 yard medley relay in 1:59.57. Brizek also won the 200 individual medley in 2:21.73 and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.73, and Trumbo went on to win the 200 freestyle in 2:10.41 and the 100 butterfly in 1:04.25. First-year student Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsburg) won a pair of events for Etown, as she won the 1000 freestyle in 12:05.93 and the 500 freestyle in 5:57.50. On the men’s side, Darren DiObilda ( oatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.), Daniel McGuigan (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville), Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) and Geoff Betz (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:49.64. DiObilda went on to win the 50 yard freestyle in 23.94 seconds, and McGuigan later won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:07.73 for Etown. Elizabethtown will return to action at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational from Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 4. The Blue Jays will send several individual swimmers to compete in that meet, rather than competing as a team. At Elizabethtown, Pa. |
