Elizabethtown Competes at Franklin & Marshall Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. --- Elizabethtown’s men’s and women’s swimming teams competed at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational over Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4. The Etown wome placed 11th out of 14 scoring teams with 84 points, and the Etown men placed 12th out of 12 scoring teams with 46. points. However, Elizabethtown did not send its entire roster to compete in the invitational, and Blue Jay swimmers did not compete in every event.

Elizabethtown swimmers set new team season-low times in six men’s events and 11 women’s events over the course of the invitational, and several Blue Jays were point scorers in individual events. On the men’s side, Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) was a point scorer in the 200 yard breaststroke by finishing in 13th place in 2:25.20. On the women’s side, Keeley Trumbo (Chester Springs, PA/Great Valley) was a point scorer in both the 100 and 200 yard butterfly events with respective finishes of eighth in 1:02.56 and 11th in 2:23.62. Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) scored points in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke with respective finishes of eighth in 1:11.72 and fifth in 2:35.33.

Elizabethtown will return to action Saturday, December 10 when it hosts Washington College (Md.) in a 1:00 p.m. dual meet.
