ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Albright Sweeps Elizabethtown, 105-94 (Women) and 107-73 (Men) ELIZABETTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College’s swimming teams’ records both stand at 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference following a pair of losses to Albright College at home Saturday. Albright, which is the defending MAC women’s champion and last year’s MAC men’s runner-up, is now 6-1 overall on the men’s side and 7-1 overall on the women’s side. The Elizabethtown men won five events, beginning with the opening 200 yard medley relay. Christopher Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest), Timothy Donahue (Hatfield, PA), Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.) and Matthew Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) teamed up to win the race in 1:44.34. Miller went on to win both the 1650 freestyle in 17:41.34 and the 100 backstroke in 58.37 seconds. Drob also won the 50 freestyle in 23.74 seconds, and Donahue won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.33. On the women’s side, the Blue Jays won four events, led by Christine Nutini (Newark, DE/Sanford), who won both the 50 yard freestyle in 27.20 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 58.37 seconds. Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.72 for Etown. The Blue Jay 200 yard freestyle relay team of Keeley Trumbo (Phoenxiville, PA/Great Valley), Erin Walker (Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton), Danielle Hopkins (Franklin, MA/Franklin) and Tara Ison (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) won in 1:51.63 as well. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road against non-conference opponent McDaniel College Tuesday, January 16 at 6:00 p.m. at Elizabethtown, Pa. |
