ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING McDaniel Edges Elizabethtown , 50-45 (Women) and 53-42 (Men) WESTMINSTER , Md. --- Elizabethtown College’s swimming each dropped to 4-7 overall Tuesday night with narrow road losses to non-conference rival McDaniel College. The McDaniel men edged Elizabethtown 53-42, while the McDaniel women eked out a 50-45 victory over Elizabethtown. On the women’s side, Elizabethtown competitors won five out of the ten events. Kara Geiger (Zionsville, PA/Emmaus) won a pair of individual events, taking the 200 yard freestyle in 2:09.82 and the 100 freestyle in 59.18 seconds. Christine Nutini (Newark, DE/Sanford) won the 50 yard freestyle in 27.15 seconds for Elizabethtown, while Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:37.26. The Elizabethtown 200 medley relay team of Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser), Gretchen Geiger, Tara Ison (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) and Kara Geiger won in 2:04.06. On the men's side, Christopher Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:06.31, and Matthew Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) won the 50 yard freestyle in 23.45 seconds. The Elizabethtown 200 medley relay team of Miller, Tim Donahue (Hatfield, PA), Drob and Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.) won in 1:48.55. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, January 20 at Middle Atlantic Conference rival Juniata College in a 1:00 p.m. meet. Only the women’s team will compete then, as Juniata does not have a men’s team. at Westminster, Md. |
