ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Elizabethtown Splits Home Dual Meet with MAC Rival Susquehanna; Etown Women Win 108-95; Susquehanna Men Win 111-90; Christopher Miller Breaks Blue Jay Men’s 1000 yd. Freestyle Record for Second Time ELIZABETHTOWN , Pa. --- Elizabethtown College split a dual meet at home with Middle Atlantic Conference rival Susquehanna University at home Saturday afternoon. The Elizabethtown women won 108-95, while the Susquehanna men won 111-90. Also, Elizabethtown sophomore Christopher Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) broke the Blue Jay record in the 1000 yard men’s freestyle for the second time this season. On the women’s side, the Blue Jays won eight of the 11 events. Kara Geiger (Zionsville, PA/Emmaus) won two individual events for Etown, the 200 freestyle (2:07.73) and the 500 freestyle (5:49.05). Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) won two events for Etown, the 200 individual medley (2:26.05) and the 200 backstroke (2:25.46). Also winning two individual events for the Blue Jays was Christine Nutini (Newark, DE/Sanford), who won the 100 freestyle in 59.18 seconds and the 200 breaststroke in 2:42.59. Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) won the 50 yard freestyle in 26.85 seconds for Etown. Also winning was the Blue Jay 400 medley relay team of Riley, Nutini, Brizek and Geiger in 2:26.44. On the men’s side, the Blue Jays won five events, including three individual events. Miller won two of them, including his program-record breaking 10:25.64 performance in the 1000 yard freestyle and a 2:01.51 win in the 200 yard backstroke. Also winning for Etown was Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.) in the 200 yard butterly in 2:18.04. The men’s 400 medley relay team of Miller, Timothy Donahue (Hatfield, PA), DiObilda and Matthew Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) won in 3:49.53. Also, Etown’s 400 freestyle relay team of Kevin O’Hara (Collegeville, PA/Methacton), Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin), Daniel Provence (Brookhaven, PA) and Geoff Betz (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) won in 3:45.29. Elizabethtown will return to action at MAC rival Lebanon Valley College Tuesday, November 21 in a 6:00 p.m. meet, the Blue Jay’s first road meet of the 2006-07 season. at Elizabethtown, Pa. |
