ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Elizabethtown Sweeps MAC Rival Lebanon Valley, Men Win 118-85, Women Win 117-86 ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College swept a road dual meet against Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lebanon Valley Tuesday night, defeating the host Flying Dutchmen 118-85 on the men’s side and 117-86 on the women’s side. Both the Etown men and women are now 3-4 overall in dual meets and 3-1 in meets against MAC competitors. The Etown women were winners in nine out of 11 events. Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) won the 800m freestyle in 10:41.20, and Lindsay Kollmeier (Sewell, NJ/Ursuline Academy, DE) won the 400m freestyle in 5:11.53. Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) won both the 200m individual medley in 2:37.95 and the 100m backstroke in 1:14.79 for Etown, and Kara Geiger (Zionsville, PA/Emmaus) won both the 200m freestyle in 2:21.46 and the 100m freestyle in 1:04.60. Christine Nutini (Newark, DE/Sanford) picked up a win in the 100m breaststroke for the Blue Jays. The Etown 200m medley relay team of Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga), Nutini, Tara Ison (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) and Geiger won in 2:16.93 for Etown at the start of the meet. At the end of the meet, Brizek, Ison, Riley and Nutini combined to win the 200m freestyle relay in 2:01.35 for the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown men won seven out of 11 events, beginning with the 200m medley relay, which Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin), Timothy Donahue (Hatfield, PA), Ryan Schutz (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and Kevin O’Hara (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) won for Etown in 2:02.10. At the end of the meet, the Blue Jay 200m freestyle relay team of Christopher Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest), O’Hara, Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.) and Matthew Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) won in 1:45.17. In between, Rose won the 800m freestyle in 10:14.11, Donahue won the 100m breaststroke in 1:12.82, Miller won the 100m backstroke in 1:01.16, DiObilda won the 100m butterfly in 1:05.16, and Drob won the 50m freestyle in 25.33 seconds. Elizabethtown swimmers will return to action at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational December 2 and 3. at Annville, Pa. |
