Elizabethtown Competes at Franklin & Marshall Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's and women's swimming teams competed at the two-day Franklin & Marshall College Invitational, with the men placing ninth with 111 points and the women taking eighth with 131 points.

For the Blue Jay men, junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) was third in the 100 backstroke (55.02 seconds), eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:04.14) and 15th in the 500 freestyle (5:05.48) while sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) was 15th in the 200 backstroke (2:10.10).

For the Etown women, sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) took fifth in the 50 freestyle (26.04 seconds), 13th in the 100 backstroke (1:06.26) and 15th in the 100 freestyle (57.13 seconds).

Junior Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.40) and was ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.12), junior Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) was 11th in the 400 individual medley (5:31.41) and junior Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) was 16th in the 1650 freestyle (19:32.83).

Rowan University won the men's team title with 680 points, ahead of host Franklin & Marshall (662 points) and Kutztown University (520.5 points). Kutztown captured the women's championship with 686.5 points, followed by Rowan (548 points) and Franklin & Marshall (412 points).
