SWIMMING ETOWN WOMEN SET PROGRAM RECORD WITH 11TH STRAIGHT WIN, 109-96 AT DREW; MEN FALL TO RANGERS, 117-74MADISON, N.J. --- The Elizabethtown women won for a program-record 11th straight meet, defeating Drew, 109-96, in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday to improve to 12-2 on the season.The Blue Jay men fell to the Rangers, 117-74, to even their record at 6-6. Brooke Knepper and Heidi Yoder were each triple-winners to lead the defending MAC champion Blue Jays to another victory. Knepper captured the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:34.96 and posted a season-best time of 5:30.30 in the 500 freestyle. Yoder won the 1000 freestyle (11:16.33) and 200 backstroke (2:16.13) for Etown and combined with Knepper, Lindsay Texter (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Jackie Zimmerman (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) for a victory in the 400 medley relay in a season-best time of 4:07.05. Texter picked up a solo win with a time of 57.01 in the 100 freestyle while Zimmerman captured the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:25.94. Sarah Bradley also helped the Etown effort, posting a winning time of 26.15 in the 50 freestyle. The Etown women need two wins in their final three meets to break the program records for wins in a season (13), set in 1996 and 1998. On the men's side, Jon Fortin (200 freestyle), Paul Contino (200 butterfly) and Brian Serapiglia (50 freestyle) each captured individual victories for Etown and combined with Matt Ostrelich for a win in the 400 freestyle relay. Contino's time of 2:13.29 in the 200 butterfly was a team season-best. The Blue Jay swimmers return to action on Tuesday, February 2 at home against Susquehanna University.
