ETOWN FALLS TO WIDENER IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON MEET, WOMEN LOSE 108-93, MEN FALL 108-76

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown men fell to 2-9 overall and the women to 5-8 to conclude their regular season with a pair of home losses at the hands of Widener. The men’s score was 108-76 and the women’s score was 108-93.

In the men’s races Jon Fortin (West Hartford, CT/William H. Hall) finished first in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:11.73. Eric Bicocchi (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) won the 100 butterfly in a season-best 59.00 seconds, and Brian Polaski (Newark, DE/Newark) won the 100 backstroke in the final regular season meet of his career in 1:09.47.

Although he finished second, Paul Contino (Flourtown, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) eclipsed the previous team season-best mark in the 1000 freestyle by over 23 seconds with a time of 10:54.30 in his first appearence in the event this season.

The Blue Jays’ Brooke Knepper (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) won every event she entered, taking the 1000 freestyle in 11:19.04, the 500 freestyle in 5:28.85 and the 100 butterfly in a season-top 1:03.76. Sprinter Sarah Bradley (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant) added two more first place finishes in the 50 freestyle with 26.36 and the 100 freestyle with 58.28.

Its regular season concluded, Elizabethtown now prepares to make waves at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, hosted this year by Susquehanna and held from February 18 through February 20.
