WESTERN MARYLAND STOPS ETOWN, 3-0, IN '98 SEASON OPENER

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Western Maryland (1-0) never trailed en route to a 15-9, 15-8, 15-8 victory over Elizabethtown (0-1) in the 1998 season opener for both squads.

In their collegiate debuts, Patti Criscuolo and Sarah Klunk led the Blue Jays with seven kills apiece while team captain Kristen Maguire chipped in with a team-high three digs and 13 assists.

Heather Tolkach served the first five points of the match to help the Green Terror to a one-game edge.  In game two, Brianne Bray rolled off six consecutive points that turned a 7-6 lead into a 13-6 advantage en route to the 15-8 Western Maryland win.

Etown returns to action on Thursday, September 3 when the Jays host Dickinson.  Match time is 7 p.m.
