ETOWN REACHES SEMIFINALS OF SCRANTON TOURNAMENT

SCRANTON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown survived a one-game playoff against Baptist Bible at the University of Scranton Tournament Saturday to reach the semifinal round before falling to New York University, 15-13, 15-9, 15-5. Etown's score against Baptist Bible was a 16-14 win, and earlier in the day the Blue Jays fell to Scranton 15-11, 15-10, 15-3.

Dawn Johns (Baltimore, MD/Lansdowne) and Gabriella Clarke (Woodlyn, PA/Ridley) shared team single match highs in kills for the day, with Johns having eight against Scranton and Clarke having eight against NYU. In addition, Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) had six kills in the single-game playoff against Baptist Bible. Morris also had a team-high 15 digs against NYU and 10 against Baptist Bible.

On the first day of competition Friday, Etown lost the tournament opener to Baptist Bible 15-11, 6-15, 15-8, 15-8, but came back to defeat Misericordia 15-10, 15-3, 15-8. Against Misericordia, setter Tess Romiti (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough) had 57 assist, the fourth-highest single match total in Elizabethtown program history.

Clarke was named to the all-tournament team following the conclusion of competition Saturday.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home against Western Maryland Monday, September 18. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
