ETOWN DEFEATS CONFERENCE RIVAL WIDENER, 3-1

CHESTER, Pa. --- Elizabethtown defeated Commonwealth Conference rival Widener on the road Wednesday 15-11, 9-15, 15-6, 17-15. It was the resurgent Blue Jays' first conference win since October 27, 1998. With the victory, Etown improves to 4-8 overall, already matching its 1999 win total, and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference.

Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton)totaled 34 digs for the match, which was the second-highest single match total in the history of the program. Morris and Dawn Johns (Baltimore, MD/Lansdowne) each had 17 kills to lead the team.

Etown had 16 blocks against the Pioneers, and Kim Mather (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) had five assisted blocks to lead the Blue Jays. Setter Tess Romiti (Ellicott City, MD/Seton Keough) had 48 assists, the ninth-highest single match total in program history.

Etown returns to action at home against Dickinson on Monday, September 25. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
