Etown Blanks Messiah, 3-0, in Home and Commonwealth Conference Opener

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown shut out Messiah, three games to none, to win its home and Commonwealth Conference opener Wednesday night. The Blue Jays improve to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while Messiah falls to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in the Commonwealth Conference.

Etown jumped out to a 13-4 lead early in the first game and never looked back, winning 30-20. The Blue Jays took the second game, 30-22, and won the third, 30-21.

Outside hitters Dawn Johns (Baltimore, MD/Lansdowne) and Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) led Elizabethtown with nine kills each. Johns also posted ten blocks and eight digs, while Morris led the team with 10 digs and four service aces.

Jamie Hudzik (Pittsburgh, PA/Seton-LaSalle) also had 10 digs for the Blue Jays.

Elizabethtown returns to action on the road Tuesday, September 25 against Susquehanna. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
