Etown Downs McDaniel, 3-0; for Jays' First Win against Green Terror Since 1997

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown hosted McDaniel College, formerly known as Western Maryland, Wednesday night and got its first win against the Green Terror since 1997, snapping a six match losing streak in the series between the teams. With the 30-22, 30-24, 30-26 win, the Blue Jays improve to 3-2 overall, Etown's best five-match start since 1996.

In the first game, Tess Romiti (Ellicott City, Seton Keough) rattled off four consecutive service aces and Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) had three straight aces as the Blue Jays took an early 19-10 lead. Etown stretched its lead to 26-12 before McDaniel (1-5) mounted a comeback by going on a 10-2 run to cut Etown's lead to 28-22 before the Blue Jays got the final two points.

The second game was much closer, with the teams tied at 24-24 before Etown went on a six point run to win the game behind the serving of Erin Malone (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain), who had a team-high of three kills in the second game as well.

The third game was a close one as well for much of the way, with the score tied at 22-22 late in the game before Etown pulled ahead to stay.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14 at the University of Scranton Tournament. The Blue Jays are scheduled to first take on Haverford at 6:00 p.m. Friday night.
