Etown Drops Close Matches to Richard Stockton, Scranton, in Season Opening Quadrangular Match

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Etown opened its 2003 season by hosting a quadrangular match Saturday, and the Blue Jays dropped a pair of close matches to Richard Stockton and Scranton. Etown fell to Richard Stockton in four games 30-21, 22-30, 30-32, 29-31, and the Blue Jays lost to Scranton in five games 22-30, 30-27, 30-27, 19-30, 13-15.

First-year Lindsay Johnson (Elkton, MD/Sanford) led the Blue Jays in kills against Stockton with 13 in her collegiate debut, and Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) added 10 kills. Ashley Wade (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) paced the Blue Jays in digs against Stockton with 14.

Against Scranton, Meghan Gowens (Pensacola, FL/B.T. Washington) led Etown in kills with 14, and she had 12 digs. Dee Selby (York, PA/Spring Grove) paced the Blue Jays in blocks with eight, and Johnson led the team in digs with 23. Jamie Hudzik (Pittsburgh, PA/Seton-LaSalle) added 18 digs for Etown.

The Blue Jays will return to action on the road Thursday, September 4 against local rival Franklin & Marshall in a 7:00 p.m. match.
