Etown Defeats McDaniel, 3-1, Emily Morris 12 Digs Away from Breaking Career Record

WESTMINSTER, Md. --- Elizabethtown improved to 3-3 in 2003 with a 30-20, 22-30, 30-16, 30-14 road win over McDaniel Tuesday night.

Senior outside hitter Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) led the Blue Jays with 18 digs, bringing her career total to 1,429, just 12 digs away from breaking the program record total of 1,440 set by Liz Bishard '98. Morris also pounded out 12 kills for the Blue Jays.

First-year middle and outside hitter Lindsay Johnson (Elkton, MD/Sanford) had the best match of her short collegiate career for Etown, pounding out 16 kills in 22 attempts with just one attack error for a hitting percentage of .682 for the match.

Ashley Wade (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) had four service aces and four blocks for Etown, as well as 16 digs and five kills in 11 attempts with no attack errorsl. Meghan Gowens (Pensacola, FL/B.T. Washington) also had 16 digs for the Blue Jays, and she had seven kills and no errors in 13 attempts.

Etown will return to action at the Scranton Invitational, which begins at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 12 and concludes Saturday, September 13.
