Etown Defeats Dickinson, 3-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 2-2 overall with a 30-20, 29-31, 30-23, 30-16 victory over Dickinson at home Wednesday night. Dickinson drops to 1-4 overall with the loss.

A pair of first-year students led the Etown attack for the night, with Kelly Downs (Airville, PA/Red Lion) and Ashley Whitmarsh (New Castle, DE/Padua Academy) leading the Blue Jays in kills with 14 each. Downs also posted a team high of six blocks. Junior Meghan Gowens (Pensacola, FL/B.T. Washington) added 13 kills for the Blue Jays.

Senior middle hitter Ashley Wade (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) led Etown in service aces with four, and she had five blocks as well. First-year setter Stacey Wasserman (Upperco, MD/Owings Mills) led the team in assists with 34, and fellow first-year Kayla Kassis (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) posted a team high of 13 digs.

Etown will return to action at the DeSales University Triangular Saturday, September 11.
