ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL Etown Defeats Baptist Bible and Wilkes in Triangular Match, Blue Jays Reach 20 Wins for First Time Since 1996 WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown earned a pair of victories on the road Saturday in a triangular match at Wilkes University. The Blue Jays downed Baptist Bible College 30-19, 30-21, 30-21 in their first match of the day, and they defeated host Wilkes 30-17, 30-22, 31-33, 30-15 in the second match. With the wins, the Blue Jays improve to 21-6 overall, thereby reaching the 20-win plateau for the first time since 1996, when the team went 24-11. The Blue Jays will return to action in a crucial Commonwealth Conference match at home against Widener University Tuesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. It is the final conference match of the season, and Etown is currently 4-2 in the conference, while Widener is 3-3. Elizabethtown has to defeat Widener in order to clinch at least the number four seed in the conference playoffs. If the Blue Jays do so, they will earn their first post-season berth since 1995. Depending on how the other matches in the conference next week play out, the Blue Jays could end up seeded as high as second in the conference playoffs. at Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
