Etown Falls to SUNY-Geneseo in Season Opener, 54-47

ARLINGTON, Va. --- Elizabethtown lost its 2001-02 season opener to SUNY-Geneseo (1-0) in the first round of the Marymount Tip-Off Tournament Friday, 54-47.

Cherrissa McCoy (Trevose, PA/Bensalem) and Jessica Smith (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) each led the Blue Jays with 14 points, and Smith posted a team-high of six rebounds. For the game, Elizabethtown shot 17 for 50 from the field.

SUNY-Geneseo had only one double-digit scorer, Kendra Vavrina, who scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Geneseo shot only 19 for 55 from the field.

Elizabethtown will return to action in the second round of the tournament at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17.
