Muhlenberg Continues Fast Start as Mules Down Etown, 80-63, Jessica Smith Ties Program Single-Game Three-Pointer Records

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell to 1-3 overall with an 80-63 road loss to Muhlenberg, which has vaulted out to a 4-0 start this season, Tuesday night.

With the exception of a brief time beginning at 2:05 into the game when a jumper by Etown first-year Lindsey Raquet (Birdsboro, PA/Holy Name) evened the score at 2-2, Muhlenberg held the lead the entire game.

Muhlenberg's largest lead of 24 points occurred with 3:03 left in the game when Lindsay St. Lawrence hit a pair of foul shots to give the Mules a 76-52 advantage.

Jessica Smith (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) led Elizabethtown with 24 points, many of which came on her program record-tying six three-pointers. Smith also fired up 12 threes in the game to tie another program record. As a team, Etown made eight three-pointers to tie a team program record set in the 1991-92 season.

Also scoring in double figures for Etown was Cherrissa McCoy (Trevose, PA/Bensalem) with 12 points and a team-high total of five assists, and Raquet with 11 points. Tameka Jackson (Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) led Etown with nine rebounds.

Susan Marchiano went 10-for-13 from the field en route to leading Muhlenberg with 22 points. She also pulled down nine rebounds. Becky Richmond led the Mules with 10 rebounds and scored 14 points.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home Saturday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. against perennial Freedom Conference power Scranton.
