Etown Falls to 1-4 with 68-43 Loss to 13th-Ranked University of Scranton

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell to 1-4 overall with a 68-43 loss at home to the nationally 13th-ranked University of Scranton at home Saturday.

The young Blue Jay team stuck close to Scranton early in the game, as the Royals held just a 12-10 lead after Mary Wismer (Millersville, PA/Lancaster Country Day) hit a pair of jumpers at 12:13 and 11:42 remaining in the first half. After that, Scranton began to pull away and took a 35-22 lead into halftime.

Cherrissa McCoy (Trevose, PA/Bensalem) led Elizabethtown with 10 points and four assists, and Tameka Jackson (Philadelphia, PA/John W. Hallahan) led the Blue Jays with 10 rebounds while scoring four points.

The Royals had four players scoring in double digits and were led by Lisa Crawford (Havertown, PA/Villa Maria), who came off the bench to score 14 points. Also coming off the bench was Tara Gemmel (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua), who scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds. AnneMarie Russo (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Keanery) led Scranton with 12 rebounds while scoring 11 points, and Kate Pierangeli (Springfield, PA/Springfield) scored 11 points and led the team with six assists.

Elizabethtown returns to action in its first Commonwealth Conference game of the season against Widener on the road Tuesday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m.
