Second-Half Run Sparks Franklin & Marshall to 80-70 Victory over Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell to 3-7 overall with an 80-70 home loss to local rival Franklin & Marshall (8-2) Wednesday night. Etown held a 34-31 lead going into halftime, but F&M opened the second half with a constant full-court press that changed the pace of the game and resulted in a 22-6 Diplomat run.

Jessica Hollinshead (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 16 points, and she blocked a pair of shots and pulled down six rebounds. Freshman Cristin Braun (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) added 12 points, shot five-for-11 from the field, blocked two shots, had three assists, and led the Blue Jays with 11 rebounds. Cherrissa McCoy (Trevose, PA/Bensalem) led Etown with seven assists and she scored 11 points while going five-for-five from the free throw line.

Amy Abernathy led F&M in scoring and rebounding with 20 points and 11 rebounds while shooting seven-for-14 from the floor and six-for-six from the free throw line. Courtney Tierney and Kristen Richter each scored 11 points for F&M, and Kelly Witkowski scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Diplomats.

Etown will return to action Saturday, January 11 on the road against Scranton in a 2:00 p.m. game.
