Mary Wismer Scores 40 Points in Two Days as Etown Goes 1-1 at Land of Magic Classic in Daytona, FL

DAYTONA, Fla. --- Etown sophomore Mary Wismer (Millersville, PA/Lancaster Country Day School) made the most of the first two starts of her collegiate career Sunday and Monday in the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona, FL. She led Etown with 19 points in Sunday's 78-66 loss to Wisconsin-Stout and added 21 more points in the Blue Jays' 82-76 win over Fitchburg State Monday. Etown's record now stands at 3-4 overall.

Going into Sunday's game, Wismer had totaled just 16 points while coming off the bench in the first five games of the season. She had also scored 47 points in 19 games all year last season. In just the last two days in Florida, she racked up 40 points, going 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-10 from three-point range against Wisconsin-Stout (9-2), and shooting 7-for-16 from the field and 5-for-12 from downtown against Fitchburg State (3-5). Wismer, a 5' 7" guard, even managed to block a pair of shots against Wisconsin-Stout.

Jessica Hollinshead (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) came up big for Etown in Florida as well, scoring 20 points on 8-for-17 shooting and pulling down 11 rebounds against Fitchburg State, as well as scoring 10 points and grabbing seven boards against Wisconsin-Stout.

Cherrissa McCoy (Trevose, PA/Bensalem) gathered six assists and scored 16 points against Fitchburg State, and Dana Voit (Jefferson Mills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) scored 13 points in Sunday's game against Wisconsin-Stout. Voit added nine points and seven rebounds to the Blue Jays' efforts against Fitchburg State Monday.

Elizabethtown will return to action in a decidedly colder climate Saturday, January 4 and Sunday, January 5 as host of the annual Blue Jay Classic. Etown will host Washington & Jefferson at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, while Lycoming and the College of New Jersey will play at 4:00 p.m. Competition will continue at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
