Etown Opens Game with 21-0 Run, Blows out Susquehanna 68-44 in Conference Opener

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown stormed out to a 21-0 lead in the first nine minutes of its Commonwealth Conference opener on the road at Susquehanna Tuesday night and never looked back, blowing out Susquehanna 68-44 to win its first game of the season. The Blue Jays' record now stands at 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while Susquehanna drops to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the Commonwealth.

By halftime, Etown's lead remained at 21 as the Blue Jays held a 37-16 edge. Etown out-scored Susquehanna 31-28 in the second half. The Etown defense shut down Susquehanna's attack, as Susquehanna shot just 25.0% (six-for-24) from the field in the first half and 30.5% (18-for-59) from the field for the game.

Jessica Hollinshead (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) led Etown in scoring with 20 points, and she pulled down six rebounds and led the team in steals with three. Megan Wolfe (Jonestown, PA/Northern Lebanon) scored 12 points and shot four-for-five from three-point range, and Dana Voit (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) scored 10 points from off the bench. Etown's top rebounders were Cristin Braun (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) and Jen Roberts (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) with eight apiece. Braun also led the team in assists with five.

Ang Letcavage led Susquehanna in both scoring with 13 points and in rebounding with 11 from off the bench.

Etown will return to action as the host of Dickinson in a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game Thursday, December 4.
