Blue Jays Blast Albright, 59-37, Improve to 2-0 in Commonwealth Conference with Third Consecutive Win

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference at home Sunday by blowing out Albright College, 59-37. It was Etown's third consecutive win, and Albright drops to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss.

Etown cruised out to a 15-4 lead in the opening minutes of the game but struggled for the remainder of the first half, taking a 25-20 lead into halftime after shooting just 25.9% (7-for-27) from the field in the first half.

The Blue Jays put Albright away in the second half, out-scoring the Lions 34-17. Etown shot 57.1% (12-for-21) from the field in the second half. The Blue Jays also sank 21 out of 24 free throw attempts in the game. Albright shot just 24.1% (14-for-58) from the field for the game.

Jen Roberts (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) and Jessica Hollinshead (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) both led Etown in scoring with 15 points each. Roberts shot six-for-11 from the field and three-for-four from the free throw line, while Hollinshead went five-for-nine from the field and five-for-six from the charity stripe. Hollinshead also had two blocked shots to lead the team, and she pulled down six rebounds. Etown's top rebounder was Jessica Smith (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), who pulled down seven boards.

Lauren Finnigan led Albright in scoring with just nine points, and she was the team's top rebounder with seven.

Etown will return to action Monday, December 8 on the road against Immaculata University at 7:00 p.m.
