Undefeated Messiah Downs Etown 63-47

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team fell 63-47 in a Commonwealth Conference game against Messiah College, currently ranked second in the nation in the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) poll and third in the nation in the D3hoops.com poll, at home Tuesday night. The Blue Jays are now 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while Messiah improves to 15-0 overall and 5-0 in the Commonwealth.

Jen Roberts (Eagleville, PA/Methaction) was Etown's top scorer despite playing only 22 minutes due to running into foul trouble early in the game. She finished the game with 12 points, shot 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She also had four rebounds. Etown's top rebounder was first-year Amanda Reid (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area), who tallied 12 rebounds and totaled 11 points from off the bench. Cristin Braun (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) added nine points and pulled down seven rebounds for Etown.

Kristin Sassaman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) was Messiah's top scorer with 15 points, and Sarah Ringer (Oceanside, CA/The Bishop's School) added 13 points and eight rebounds. Messiah's top rebounder was Eli Cook (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Christian) with 11 rebounds, and she led all players in the game with six steals while scoring nine points.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, January 22 against conference rival Lebanon Valley College at 3:00 p.m.
