Elizabethtown Defeats 14th-Ranked Marymount, 68-62

ARLINGTON, Va. --- Elizabethtown College picked up its first win of the 2004-05 season and Blue Jay head coach Yvonne Kauffman picked up the 598th women's basketball coaching victory of her career as Etown defeated nationally 14th-ranked Marymount University on the second day of the Marymount Tip-Off Tournament Saturday. Etown's record now stands at 1-1 overall, while Marymount drops to 0-2 as the team continues a rocky ride through its annual season-opening tournament.

The Blue Jays trailed 27-24 at halftime, but Etown erupted for 44 points in the second half, half of which came on free throws. The Blue Jays also canned six of 14 three point attempts in the second half after missing all six of their attempts in the first half.

Cristin Braun (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) led Etown in scoring with 16 points, and Jen Roberts (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) scored 15 points and led the team in rebounds with seven. Megan Wolfe (Jonestown, PA/Northern Lebanon) also scored 15 points for Etown. and had a game-high of three assists.

Meghan Denham was Marymount's top scorer with 18 points, and Randi Jones added 17 points. Marymount turned the ball over 24 times over the course of the game, against 15 turnovers for Elizabethtown.

Elizabethtown will return to action Sunday, November 21 on the final day of the Marymount Tournament at a time and against an opponent to be determined.
