ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Falls to Gettysburg, 50-43, on Final Day of Marymount Tournament; Dana Voit Named to All-Tournament Team ARLINGTON, Va. --- Elizabethtown College dropped to 1-2 overall Sunday with a 50-43 road loss to Gettysburg College on the final day of the Marymount University Tip-Off Tournament. Blue Jay junior Dana Voit (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 12.3 points per game over the three days. Voit led Etown in scoring against Gettysburg, accounting for nearly half the team's points with 19 after sinking three three-pointers and eight shots from the floor. The 5'5 guard also pulled down seven rebounds, including three offensive boards, and she led the team in steals with four. Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Co.) came off the bench to score ten points and lead the Blue Jays in rebounds with nine. Gettysburg's top scorer and leading rebounder was Elizabeth Ross, who scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the only Bullet to hit double digits in either statistical category. Gettysburg held a heavy advantage in rebounding of 52-34. Gettysburg committed 23 turnovers, though, against just 14 for Elizabethtown. Etown out-shot Gettysburg 63-55 from the field, but the Blue Jays shot just 27% from the floor, while the Bullets hit 30.9% of their shots. Gettysburg also converted 14 of 15 free throws, while Etown made five of its eight free throws. The Bullets held a 24-12 lead at halftime as Etown made only five of 30 shots from the floor in the first half. The Blue Jays out-scored Gettysburg 31-26 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit. Etown will return to action at home Tuesday, November 30 against Susquehanna University in a 7:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game, the Blue Jays first conference contest of the season. At Verizon Sports Arena, Arlington, Va. |
