ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Juniata Defeats Elizabethtown 66-53 in Commonwealth Conference Game ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 66-53 home loss to Juniata College (8-6, 1-2) Tuesday night. Juniata tore through the first half, shooting 60% (18-for-30) from the field and out-rebounding Etown 24-11 to carry a 46-22 lead into halftime. The 24 point margin proved insurmountable, as Etown gained 11 points on Juniata’s lead in the second half. The Blue Jays shot 28.6% (8-for-28) in the first half and 34.5% (10-for-29) in the second half. Over the course of the game, Elizabethtown held a 14-7 advantage in steals over Juniata, but the Eagles out-rebounded Etown 42-31 and shot 26-for-53 (49.1%) from the field for the game. Cristin Braun (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was Elizabethtown’s lone scorer in double digits with 13 points. Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) came off the bench to lead Elizabethtown in rebounds with five while scoring six points, and Dana Voit (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) led the Blue Jays in steals with four while scoring six points as well. Katie O’Brien (Hanover, PA/South Western) led Juniata in scoring with 19 points, in steals with three and in rebounds with 11. Kristen Kirk (Newport, PA/Newport) added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for Juniata, and Jess Winemiller (York, PA/Dallastown) led Juniata in assists with five while scoring 14 points and pulling down six rebounds. Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, January 14 against Lebanon Valley College in a 2:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game. At Thompson Gymnasium, Elizabethtown, Pa. |
