Elizabethtown Falls 73-58 to Marymount in 2005-06 Season Opener

ARLINGTON, Va. --- Elizabethtown fell 73-58 in its 2005-06 season opener to Marymount University Friday night in the opening round of Marymount’s annual Tip-Off Classic Tournament. As a result, Elizabethtown will play Trinity College in the next round of the tournament at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Marymount held a 33-28 edge over Etown at halftime and extended its lead by 10 more points over the course of the second half.

Etown’s leading scorer was sophomore Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Co.) with 22 points. She shot 10-for-22 from the field, pulled down five rebounds and had three assists and two steals. Amanda Reid (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) added 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field for Etown, and she had four rebounds.

Both Carolyn Riley and Meghan Denham led Marymount in scoring with 19 points each. Kacee Grogan had 10 rebounds and nine points for Marymount as well.
