Seventh-Ranked Messiah Clips Elizabethtown 64-46

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Nationally seventh-ranked Messiah College defeated Elizabethtown College 64-46 at Elizabethtown Wednesday night. With the loss, the host Blue Jays drop to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the Commonwealth Conference, while Messiah improves to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference with the win.

Elizabethtown held a 48-40 advantage in rebounds, but the Blue Jays turned the ball over 22 times against just 10 turnovers for Messiah. Elizabethotwn also shot just 29.5% (18-for-61) from the field and 21.4% (3-for-14) from three-point range, while Messiah went 38.5% (25-for-65) from the field and 38.5% (5-for-13) from behind the arc.

Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Co.) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 21 points, and Audrey Hitz (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) led the Blue Jays in rebounds with 14 while scoring seven points. Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) added nine rebounds and five points for Etown. Megan Romano (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) led Elizabethown in assists with six while pulling down seven rebounds and scoring six points.

Nikki Lobach (Hanover, PA/South Western) led Messiah in scoring with 28 points and in assists with five while grabbing five rebounds and making three steals. Sarah Ringer (Oceanside, CA/The Bishop’s School) scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Ashley Brooks (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) led Messiah in rebounds with nine, in steals with five and in blocked shots with five while scoring three points.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, January 13 at home against Albright College at 2:00 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference game.
