ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Defeats McDaniel 75-63 in Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Opener YORK, Pa. --- Junior Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) hit back-to-back three-pointers as part of a late 16-2 run as Elizabethtown College defeated McDaniel College 75-63 in the opening game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at York College on Friday afternoon. Senior Audrey Hitz (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) led the Blue Jays (6-2 overall) with a career-high 19 points to go with 15 rebounds as Elizabethtown won its fourth straight game and advanced to Saturday's championship game at 4:00 p.m. against the host Spartans, who defeated SUNY Oneonta 77-58 in Friday's other first-round contest. Quinn, who finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, broke a 61-61 tie on a three-pointer with 3:23 to play, and added another three with 2:45 to go to give Elizabethtown what to that points was its largest lead of the game at 67-61. Elizabethtown capped a 10-0 run as Hitz connected on a layup with 1:14 to play to give the Blue Jays a 71-61 lead, while McDaniel (4-5 overall) managed its lone points over the final five minutes on a basket by Whitney Snoops with 57 seconds to go. The teams played a back-and-forth first half, with six ties and neither team leading by more than five points en route to a 35-35 tie at intermission. Hitz led the Blue Jays with 11 points and seven rebounds while Robbin Gregg paced the Green Terror with eight points and four assists. Senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) also reached double figures for the Blue Jays with 12 points along with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Snoops led the Green Terror with 13 points in 19 minutes off the bench while Gregg added 12 points and six assists. The double-double by Hitz was her second of the season and the ninth of her career, while her 19-point effort surpassed her previous career high of 18 points set in the same building against York on Jan. 22, 2007.
