ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Blue Jays Fall to York, 68-54, in Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Championship Game YORK, Pa. --- Kristen Daly scored a game-high 20 points to earn Most Valuable Player honors as host York College won the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic with a 68-54 victory over Elizabethtown College in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. Keli Ward added 17 points and six rebounds for the Spartans (9-3 overall), who shot 51 percent (25-for-49) from the field as a team and outscored the Blue Jays (6-3 overall) by a 26-12 margin over the final 7 minutes, 22 seconds of the contest. Junior Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) led Etown with 15 points while senior Audrey Hitz (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) added 14 points and seven rebounds to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. Elizabethtown led 27-24 at halftime and took its largest lead of the game at 30-26 on a three-pointer by Quinn with 17:17 remaining. York would rally to tie the game at 30-30, and six more ties would follow with the final deadlock at 42-42 with 7:38 to play following two foul shots by junior Megan Romano (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown). A foul shot by Donna Figenshu would give the Spartans the lead for good at 43-42 with 7:22 left, and a three-pointer by Ward and a jumper by Daly extended the York lead to 48-42 with 6:37 left. Elizabethtown crept within four at 50-46 on a layup by Quinn with 5:40 to go, but Ward hit a layup and a three-pointer to push the York advantage to 55-46 at the 5:06 mark, and the Blue Jays would move no closer than six points the rest of the way. Senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Jays, who tallied 22 of their 37 rebounds on the offensive glass in the game but shot just 26.2 percent (17-for-65) from the field.
