Elizabethtown Drops Commonwealth Conference Opener at Lycoming, 73-60

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Lycoming College closed the first half with a 19-4 run and went on to a 73-60 victory over Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at Lamade Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Jessica Nabholz posted game highs of 14 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Warriors (10-5 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth), who shot 48.1 percent (26-for-54) from the field as a team including 8-for-19 from three-point range.

Juniors Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) and Megan Romano (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) paced the Blue Jays (9-6 overall, 0-1 Commonwealth) with 12 points apiece while senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) added 11 points, but Elizabethtown connected on just 29.4 percent (20-for-68) of its shots in the contest.

Elizabethtown trailed 19-14 midway through the first half, but Lycoming scored the next 12 points over a four-minute span to go ahead 31-14 with 5:37 left in the half.

The Warriors led 38-19 at halftime and expanded their lead to as many as 27 points at 66-39 with 5:39 remaining. The Blue Jays closed the contest by scoring 14 of the final 17 points over the final 2 minutes, 30 seconds.

In all, four players scored in double figures for Lycoming, with Allison Mock and Samantha Ruby tallying 12 points each while Rebecca Leid contributed 10 points for the Warriors.

The Blue Jays finished with a 46-35 edge in rebounding over the Warriors, including 26 on the offensive glass. Senior Audrey Hitz (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) paced Elizabethtown with nine boards, while junior Jenn Montague (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) added six rebounds along with nine points off the bench.
