St. Mary's Defeats Elizabethtown 63-52 in Non-Conference Matchup

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Allie Scott finished with a game-high 22 points to lead St. Mary's College of Maryland to a 63-52 non-conference victory over Elizabethtown College in women's basketball action at Thompson Gymnasium on Monday night.

Steph Saint-Aubin added 12 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and seven steals for the Seahawks (12-6 overall), who turned an eight-point second-half lead into a 21-point advantage before the Blue Jays (9-8 overall) rallied to within nine in the final minute.

Senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) paced Elizabethtown with a team-high 20 points while junior Jenn Montague (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) added 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals in 27 minutes off the bench.

However, the Blue Jays shot just 30.5 percent (18-for-59) from the field as a team and could not capitalize on 25 Seahawk turnovers in suffering their third consecutive defeat.

St. Mary's jumped out to an early 15-4 lead, and carried a nine-point lead to intermission at 30-21. Scott led the Seahawks with 12 points in the opening half while Walton paced the Blue Jays with seven.

In the second half, St. Mary's built its largest lead at 58-37 with 6:05 to go before the Blue Jays went on a 15-3 run to pull within 61-52 with 58 seconds remaining.

St. Mary's, which shot 42.4 percent (25-for-59) from the field as a team, also finished with a 42-39 edge in rebounding over Elizabethtown.
