ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Blue Jays Use Hot Shooting to Douse Widener, 86-64 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) led a torrid Elizabethtown College shooting performance with a game-high 28 points as the Blue Jays downed Widener University 86-64 in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at Thompson Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Junior Jenn Montague (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) added a career-high 19 points and game-high nine rebounds for the Blue Jays (10-10 overall, 1-4 Commonwealth), who shot a season-best 63.6 percent (28-for-44) from the field en route to their highest point total of the season. Megan Sipple led the Pride (9-11 overall, 1-4 Commonwealth) with 13 points, five assists and eight steals, but Widener connected on just 33.3 percent (23-for-69) from the field and was unable to take advantage of 34 Elizabethtown turnovers. Elizabethtown used an 11-1 run to build an early double-digit lead at 16-6 with 12:42 left in the first half, and extended their advantage to as many as 20 points before going to halftime with a 40-25 lead. Walton and Montague led the Blue Jays with 11 points apiece in the half, with Montague adding a game-high seven rebounds. In the second half, Widener rallied to with 50-40 with 15:12 remaining, but Elizabethtown countered with a 12-2 run over the next 1 minute, 12 seconds to go on top 62-42 with 13:00 left. Walton matched her season high of 28 points by going 7-for-12 from the field and 13-for-18 from the foul line, while adding five assists and five steals. Montague hit on 8-of-9 shots from the floor while sophomore Ashley Toczylowski (Dupont, PA/Wyoming Seminary) chipped in with a career-best eight points in her second start of the season. Widener placed four players in double figures, with Barbara Fleming and Rayne Reber adding 12 points each and Beth Dessart Mager contributing 10 points before fouling out in the final three minutes.
