Ninth-Ranked Messiah Downs Elizabethtown, 86-51

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- A 57-percent shooting performance keyed ninth-ranked Messiah College to an 86-51 victory over Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

Nikki Lobach scored a game-high 17 points for the Falcons (19-2 overall, 6-0 Commonwealth), who connected on 32-of-56 shots from the field and 18-of-19 at the foul line while committing just eight turnovers in the win over the Blue Jays (10-11 overall, 1-5 Commonwealth).

Senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) notched a team-high 12 points for Elizabethtown, which shot just 31.5 percent (17-for-54) from the field and finished with 21 turnovers in the contest.

Messiah never trailed in the contest, taking a 38-22 lead to halftime while shooting 55.6 percent (15-for-27) from the field as a team.

The Falcons increased their lead in the second half, building the spread to 30 points with 6:37 to go and holding their largest lead at 85-45 in the final minute.

Amy Reed added 10 points and four assists for Messiah, while Silalei Shani came off the bench to finish with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds in 17 minutes of action.

Joining Walton in double figures for the Blue Jays were junior Jenn Montague (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) with 11 points and five rebounds, and senior Amanda Reid (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) with 10 points.
