ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Defeats Wesley 84-71 in Consolation Game of Johns Hopkins Tournament BALTIMORE, Md. --- Junior Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) scored a career-high 27 points while senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) added 24 points as Elizabethtown College defeated Wesley College 84-71 in the consolation game of the Mike Durgala Memorial Tournament at Johns Hopkins University on Sunday afternoon. Quinn shot 12-for-17 from the field and added seven rebounds and four steals for the Blue Jays (1-1 overall), who led 47-27 at halftime and by as many as 30 points in the second half over the Wolverines (0-2 overall). Senior Amanda Reid (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) added a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for Elizabethtown, which dominated Wesley on the boards by a 55-29 margin. Latasha Torres led Wesley with 19 points while Cory Boyd added 16 points and four steals, but the Wolverines committed 28 turnovers and shot 40.6 percent (28-for-69) from the field in the game. Elizabethtown stormed out to a 23-9 lead midway through the first half and took a 47-27 advantage to halftime behind 16 points by Quinn and 11 from Walton. The Blue Jays shot 58.1 percent (18-for-31) from the field in the first half while holding the Wolverines to just 34.4 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes. In the second half, the Blue Jays pushed their lead to 73-43 on a layup by Quinn with 11:56 to go, but the Wolverines went on a 15-0 run to trim the deficit to 73-58 on a layup by Torres with 6:42 left. Wesley would ultimately move within 12 at 79-67 on a three-pointer by Torres with 3:07 to play, but Walton connected on a layup and Quinn converted a three-point play to give Elizabethtown an 84-67 advantage with 2:41 left. Off the Elizabethtown bench, junior Jenn Montague (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) and first-year student Kirsti Larsen (Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) scored nine points apiece, with Montague adding nine rebounds in 24 minutes of playing time.
