Elizabethtown Defeats Trinity (D.C.) 75-41 in Blue Jay Classic Opener

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Senior Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) scored a game-high 28 points as Elizabethtown College downed Trinity (D.C.) University 75-41 in the opening game of the R1 Sports Blue Jay Classic at Thompson Gymnasium on Friday night.

Walton hit 10-of-21 from the field, including 4-for-7 from three-point range, as the Blue Jays (4-2 overall) forced the Tigers (1-8 overall) into 39 turnovers to advance to Saturday's championship game at 3:00 p.m. against Rowan University, which defeated Penn State Harrisburg 76-37 in Friday's other game.

The Blue Jays led 33-16 at halftime behind 19 points by Walton, and went on a 21-0 run that spanned halftime to turn a 19-16 advantage into a 40-16 lead with 17:11 left in the game.

First-year student Kirsti Larsen (Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) came off the Blue Jay bench to score a season-high 11 points as Elizabethtown finished with a 33-2 edge in bench scoring over Trinity.

Preshuse Jackson led Trinity with 12 points while Ashley West added 11 points and seven rebounds as the Tigers shot 45.7 percent from the field but attempted just 35 field goals versus 64 shots by the Blue Jays.

Junior Megan Quinn (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) and first-year student Kaity Snyder (Catawissa, PA/Southern Columbia) each finished with eight points for the Blue Jays, while senior Audrey Hitz (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

In Friday's other contest, Rowan led 47-8 at halftime and cruised to a 76-37 win over Penn State Harrisburg. Jillian Kane led the Profs (4-2 overall) with 12 points and seven rebounds as 13 different players reached the scoring column. Sandra Adames led the Lions (2-5 overall) with a triple-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 12 blocked shots.
