KAISER AND STILL BIG ON GLASS AS ETOWN WINS THIRD STRAIGHT, 62-48 OVER JUNIATA

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Gina Kaiser led Elizabethtown in scoring and rebounding for a second straight game as the Blue Jays defeated Juniata 62-48 in MAC Commonwealth League action on Wednesday. The senior center scored 15 points and added ten boards against the Eagles, two days after leading Etown with 16 points and 12 boards in a 71-49 victory over F&M.

Jen Still posted season highs with eight points and ten rebounds to lift Etown to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Commonwealth League. Forward Mandy Pile led all players with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Juniata (4-8, 2-4).

Trailing 38-25 at halftime, Juniata ran off ten consecutive points to open the second half, capped by a bucket from Mandi Lyman at the 14:22 mark.

Kaiser, however, stabilized the situation with a basket and two free throws and the Blue Jays went on a 10-0 run of their own to open up a 50-35 advantage with 8:48 remaining. The Eagles could get no closer than 13 points in the game's final nine minutes.

Point guard Allison Lucey dished out five assists for the Blue Jays while Andrea Thompson led the Etown pressure defense with seven steals, tying the conference high for swipes in a game this season.

Lyman was second on the Juniata scoring list with 11 points while teammate Corinne Bills poured in ten points in only 15 minutes of action.

With the win, Elizabethtown head coach Yvonne Kauffman is five victories shy of 500 for her women's basketball coaching career. Kauffman, the second-winningest active coach in Division III women's basketball, boasts a career record of 495-158.

The Jays next take the court on Saturday, January 24 at home against Moravian College. Game time is 2 p.m.
