FALCONS AVENGE EARLY-SEASON BLOWOUT, EDGE BLUE JAYS 58-56

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Nancy Schuit scored a game-high 18 points as Messiah avenged a blowout loss earlier in the season to Elizabethtown with a 58-56 win in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday night. Etown defeated the Falcons, 85-50, in each team's League opener on December 2.

Shauntae Stancil led the way for the Blue Jays (10-5, 6-2) with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season, while Kim Boback was next with 12 points. Brenda Wessel tallied 11 points to surpass the 1,300-point barrier for her career. She is currently seventh all-time of the Etown women's basketball scoring list.

The Falcons also got 14 points from Sarah Wade, including a 6-for-6 performance from the foul line, to break the Blue Jays' four-game winning streak and improve to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in the MAC Commonwealth League.

Etown next takes the court on Saturday, January 31 at home in another Commonwealth battle against Susquehanna. Game time is 6 p.m. The Jays stopped the Crusaders 76-58 in their first meeting of the season on December 6.
