WESSEL SAVES BEST FOR LAST IN ETOWN'S 91-65 WIN OVER ALBRIGHT

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Brenda Wessel made her final regular season home game a memorable one.

The senior scored a career-high 29 points and tied her personal best with nine rebounds to lead Elizabethtown past Albright, 91-65, in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday. With the win, the Blue Jays (15-6, 10-2) clinched at least a share of the Commonwealth League title.

Kim Boback was next on the Etown scoring list with 12 points while Gina Kaiser added ten points and five rebounds. Jarra Rusnock, the Conference's leading scorer, paced Albright (6-16, 4-8) with 15 points.

With her team ahead 38-30, Wessel came out of the locker room on fire and didn't cool down the rest of the way. She scored the Jays' first two baskets of the second half, then scored nine points during a 17-6 stretch that turned a five-point lead into a 59-43 advantage with 12:11 remaining. For the half, Wessel went 9-for-9 from the field.

Etown pushed its lead to 20 points on a basket from Boback and two field goals by Abbie Fabian , who finished with nine points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in 18 active minutes.

Point guard Rachel Connolly dished six assists and added 11 points for Albright. Allison Lucey chipped in with six assists for Etown.

Etown can wrap up the Commonwealth League championship on Wednesday, February 18 at Juniata College. Game time is 7 p.m.
