ETOWN RUNS WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT WITH 78-51 WIN OVER LEBANON VALLEY; FABIAN LEADS THE WAY WITH 7TH DOUBLE-DOUBLE
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored 20 points and added a career-high 16 rebounds to lead Elizabethtown over Lebanon Valley, 78-51, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Wednesday. With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the league.Fabian's double-double was her seventh in 11 games this season for Etown. Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) added 19 points and eight rebounds as the Blue Jays ran their winning streak to eight games, their longest since a 12-game streak during the 1994-95 season. Jesse Goldstein and Kim Boback also keyed the win with 11 points apiece.
Lora Zimmerman (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) led the way for Lebanon Valley with 18 points. The Dutchmen fell to 7-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Commonwealth League.
Etown led only 35-32 at halftime, but went on a 31-10 run over the next 13 minutes to take command. The Jays held Lebanon Valley to 27.3 percent shooting from the floor in the second half and 33.3 for the game.
Etown, currently ranked 22nd in Division III
by Columbus Multimedia, returns to action on Saturday, January 16
at home against Albright. Game time is 2 p.m.
