BLUE JAYS RUN WINNING STREAK TO NINE GAMES WITH 77-59 VICTORY OVER ALBRIGHT

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored 17 points and Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) added 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Elizabethtown to a 77-59 win over Albright in MAC Commonwealth League action on Saturday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 11-1 and 5-0 in the league.

Jesse Goldstein (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) added a career-high 15 points as Etown ran its winning streak to nine games.  The Blue Jays, currently ranked 22nd in Division III by Columbus Multimedia, have won nine in a row for the first time since 1994-95 and are off to their best start since the 1987-88 season.

Alison Proch led all scorers with 21 points for Albright (4-9, 1-4) while Rachel Connolly added 14 points.  Kristyann Marshall chipped in with nine points and ten rebounds in the losing effort.

After the Lions cut a nine-point deficit down to 48-45 in the first five minutes of the second half, Etown went on a 14-2 run over the next six minutes to take control of the game.

Fabian started the run with a basket and Chiles added a free throw before Andrea Thompson (West Lawn, Pa./Holy Name) scored to give the Jays a 53-46 lead with 12:15 left.  Following an Albright foul, Goldstein and Kim Boback (Croydon, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) scored on consecutive trips to give Etown an 11-point edge.  Fabian added a basket and Goldstein knocked down one of her three three-pointers to put her team up 62-46 with 9:01 remaining.

Albright cut the deficit to ten with a 7-0 run, but Etown answered with nine consecutive points to put the game away.

Thompson and Allison Lucey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) each dished out seven assists for the Blue Jays while Boback and Shauntae Stancil (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored 12 points apiece.

Etown needs eight more wins to become the first women's basketball program in NCAA history to record 800 all-time victories.  The Blue Jays return to action on Monday, January 18 at Franklin & Marshall College.  Game time is 6 p.m.
