ETOWN DOWNS JUNIATA, 73-57, FOR 11TH STRAIGHT WIN; FABIAN LEADS NO. 13 BLUE JAYS WITH CAREER-BEST 23 POINTS

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) tied a career high with 23 points and added a team-high eight rebounds as Elizabethtown defeated Juniata, 73-57, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Wednesday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the MAC Commonwealth League.

Allison Lucey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) posted her fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 12 points and added five assists as Etown won for the 11th straight game, the Jays' longest streak since the 1994-95 season.  Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) scored nine of her 11 points in the second half while teammate Shauntae Stancil (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) added ten points, five rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.

Molly Lyman led Juniata with 15 points while Brandy Preslovich added seven points and pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds for the Eagles (5-8, 0-6).

With Lucey and Fabian leading the charge, the Blue Jays jumped out to a 17-5 advantage in the game's opening minutes.

Juniata fought back to within four points when Lyman knocked down a jumper and converted the three-point play to make it 28-24 in favor of Etown with 6:05 left in the first half.

Etown answered with two free throws by Kim Boback (Croydon, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) and back-to-back three pointers from Lucey and Jesse Goldstein (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) to stretch the lead to 36-24.

The Eagles trailed 40-31 at halftime and could get no closer than 48-40 with 14:27 remaining following one free throw by Lyman.  Etown immediately went on a 13-5 run over the next five minutes keyed by six points from Stancil and five from Chiles to take control of the contest and stay perfect in the MAC Commonwealth League.

The Blue Jays, currently ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic region and 13th in Division III, need six more victories to become the first women's basketball program in NCAA history with 800 all-time wins.  Etown returns to action on Saturday, January 23 in a Commonwealth League showdown at regionally-ranked Moravian College.  Game time is 2 p.m.
