13 JAYS NEED FIVE MORE FOR 800
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The countdown has begun in earnest for the Elizabethtown women's basketball team. Etown won for the 12th straight game and improved to 14-1 on the season (7-0 MAC Commonwealth). As with a number of their recent victories, the Blue Jays broke open a close game with an early second-half run. With 18:49 remaining, the Greyhounds pulled to within 37-34 when Jen Page scored one of her two baskets on a layup and Coughlin followed with a three-pointer. The Blue Jays, however, responded with a 13-2 run to take a comfortable advantage. Fabian and Kim Boback (Croydon, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) combined to scored the game's next nine points to give Etown a 46-34 lead with 15:29 left. After Johnson hit a layup to pull Moravian within ten, Stancil and Chiles drilled jumpers on consecutive trips to give the Jays a 50-36 advantage with 14:23 remaining. Jen Polaha cut the Etown lead to 50-39 with a three-pointer, but Stancil and Fabian answered with consecutive baskets and the Blue Jays led by no fewer than 12 points the rest of the way. Boback finished with eight points for Etown. In a successful homecoming, Blue Jay point guard Allison Lucey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) led all players with six assists.
