BLUE JAYS PULL WITHIN ONE WIN OF 800 WITH 73-52 DECISION AT LEBANON VALLEY; ETOWN WILL PLAY FOR MILESTONE THURSDAY

ANNVILLE, Pa --- The countdown to 800 is now at one.

Carmen Chiles scored 22 points and Shauntae Stancil added 19 points and eight rebounds to lead Elizabethtown (Pa.) to a 73 52 victory over Lebanon Valley (Pa.) in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 18-2 (11-0 MAC Commonwealth League) and clinched a share of their sixth straight Commonwealth League title.

Etown now needs only one more victory to become the first women's basketball program in NCAA history to record 800 wins.  The Blue Jays' first shot at the milestone comes on Thursday, February 11 at home against regionally-ranked Western Maryland College.  Game time is 7 p.m.

Kim Boback tossed in 12 of her 14 points in the decisive first half for Etown while Abbie Fabian turned in a solid all-around effort with nine points, nine rebounds, seven steals and four assists.

Miriam Anthony scored a team-high 20 points for Lebanon Valley (11-8, 5-6 MAC Commonwealth League) while Serenity Roos chipped in with 14 points.  Melissa Brecht added nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the losing effort.

The Blue Jays, who entered the game ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic region and 14th in Division III, used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to break open a close game and take command.

Leading 18-13 with 12:04 remaining in the first half, Etown's Chiles scored on a layup and Boback scored a pair of baskets to give the Jays a 24-13 lead and force a Lebanon Valley timeout.

Stancil and Boback drilled back-to-back jumpers following the break and Chiles followed with a breakaway bank shot to cap the run and give Etown a 30-13 lead with 8:06 remaining.

Brecht broke a five-minute scoring drought for the Flying Dutchwomen with a layup to cut the deficit to 15, but Etown scored nine of the game's next 11 points to take a 39-17 edge with 4:26 left before halftime.

The Blue Jays shot 31-for-62 (50.0 percent) from the field on the game, including 19-for-34 (55.9 percent) performance in the first half.  Etown held LVC to 21-for-64 (32.8 percent) shooting for the game and forced 24 Dutchwomen turnovers.
