ETOWN SHOWS OFF THE "D" IN 73-40 WIN OVER JUNIATA; FABIAN, STANCIL POST DOUBLE-DOUBLES TO LEAD 11TH-RANKED BLUE JAYS

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa --- Abbie Fabian (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored 18 points with 12 rebounds and seven assists and the Elizabethtown defense held Juniata to 23.2 percent shooting en route to a 73-40 victory in MAC Commonwealth League action on Wednesday.  With the win, the 11th-ranked Blue Jays improved to 21-2 (13-0 MAC Commonwealth League).

Shauntae Stancil (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) turned in her third double-double of the season with 17 points and a season-best 12 boards as Etown continued to roll over teams on its way to the postseason.  The Blue Jays, who ascended to first place in the Mid-Atlantic region earlier in the day, have won their last four games by an average margin of 28 points.

Danny Young led Juniata (8-15, 0-13) with 15 points while Brandy Preslovich pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.  The Eagles made only six of 29 shots in the first half and were 13-for-56 from the field for the game.

With offense scarce in the opening minutes, Juniata took a 9-6 lead following a backdoor layup by Young with 14:18 remaining in the first half.

Elizabethtown then held the Eagles scoreless for the next eight minutes and went on a 16-0 run to take control of the game.

Fabian, the current MAC Commonwealth League Player of the Week, hit a jumper and converted two free throws to put the Blue Jays ahead for good at 10-9.  Stancil knocked down jumpers on consecutive trips and Carmen Chiles (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) scored two of her seven points to give Etown a 16-9 advantage with 10:25 left in the half.

Fabian added another basket and pair of free throws before Chiles made it 22-9 with a slashing drive at the 8:28 mark.

Young and Dana Lichtenfels scored to halt the Etown run, but the Jays ripped off six of the next eight points to take a 30-15 edge.  Juniata could get no closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Jamie Porter (Glenolden, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) scored a career-high ten points for Etown.  Fabian's seven assists tied a career high set earlier this season against Messiah.  With her 17-point outing, Stancil moved into ninth place on the program's all-time scoring list.

The Blue Jays wrap up their regular season on Saturday, February 20 at home against Moravian College.  Game time is 2 p.m.  Etown will open the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs at home on Tuesday, February 23 with time and opponent to be determined.
